Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse is a 2021 Amazon original film.

0 out of 10 stars.  With mostly unknown actors and a ridiculous script, this film was destined to failure.  Michael Jordan’s acting was pretty bad, but Jodie Turner-Smith’s was even worse.

This film begins with a Seal Team 6 rescue operation gone awry.  They’re in Syria and the bad guys are supposed to be Syrian terrorists holding captives.  They’re not.  They’re Russian FSB.

A few weeks later, everyone on that Seal team is systematically murdered, including John Kelly’s pregnant wife Pam.  They all appear to be Russian hits.

While Kelly is in the hospital recovering from his near death experience, Ellen Greer visits him.  She tries to uncover who leaked the Seal team’s names and addresses.  What she discovers is that one of the victims in their rescue operation gone awry was the Russian FSB Director Nikolai Zelin’s son Yuri.  The hits on his team were in response to that and it looks very much like the CIA sanctioned the hits on Kelly’s team and gave Russia their names and addresses.  (It ends up being a plot by the Defense Secretary to spend more money on a “war against Russia”).

Kelly follows the Russian ambassador away from the embassy, traps him in his car, sets it on fire, then gets inside and tortures him until he gives him the name of the one hitman who got away and killed Pam.  Then he kills the ambassador, becoming a criminal.

As bad as this beginning was, the film gets dramatically dumber.  They put together a reject crew of soldiers to go with Greer and Kelly to Russia aboard a commercial flight to exact revenge.  Dumb, dumb, dumb.

0 out of 10 stars.  This was one of the very last novels put out by Clancy and is attributed to an unknown ghost writer.  Clancy used many ghost writers toward the end of his life (he died in 2013).  There were so many errors in this film  it was embarrassing.  SEAL’s are known for amphibious assaults, not raids like this which would have been executed by the Rangers.  They wouldn’t be dumb enough to kill an ambassador with 40+ witnesses.  They would never use a commercial plane.  Taylor Sheridan has written some incredible screenplays, but this was awful.  Casting was worse.  They say that this film was in production hell for almost 20 years.  It should have stayed there.
