Red Lights is a 2012 supernatural film.

8 out of 10 stars.  This has an all star cast with Sigourney Weaver, Cillian Murphy. Elizabeth Olsen, and Robert DeNiro.

Dr. Margaret Matheson and her assistant Tom Buckley specialize in debunking psychics.  In the university classes they teach they even demonstrate the way these charlatans perform their tricks.  Then a famous psychic is released from prison and starts to make headlines.  Simon Silver is unscrupulous and travels with dangerous thugs.  Tom wants to expose him, but Margaret is reluctant because the first time she debunked Silver he took pot shots at her comatose son.  That’s when Margaret reveals to Tom that she has been searching for proof of life after death since her son went into a coma, because that would give her the courage to shut off her son’s life support.

After an encounter with Silver on a talk show, Margaret suffers a fatal heart attack and Tom must take over Margret’s classes.  Then he goes after Silver, proving him a fake.

As the film ends we see flashbacks of all the actual psychic phenomena that appeared in the film always when Tom was present, because Tom is a true psychic and has been looking from someone like him his entire life.  He goes to the hospital to see Margaret’s son and shuts off his life support so he can join his mother in heaven.

8 out of 10 stars.  A beautiful story of love and faith.
