The Peacemaker is a 1997 action adventure film starring George Clooney and Nicole Kidman.

10 out of 10 stars.  It’s hard to find any faults with this film.  It’s one of my favorite action films.  It starts with the theft of 10 nuclear warheads from a Russian train and ends with one of those nuclear warheads being brought to New York City by a Serbian terrorist.

In Washington, D.C. Dr. Julia Kelly is the head of the Nuclear Smuggling Group.  She learns that a train in Russia has crashed with 10 SS18’s on board.  SS18’s have to be detonated internally so it poses no immediate threat, but they believe the train crashing may have been intentional.  Particularly disturbing is that the train crashed, but exploded 4 1/2 minutes later like a bomb being detonated.  One nuclear warhead sells for $200 million on the black market.  Lt. Colonel Tom Devoe joins Dr. Kelly’s briefing and says that a man named Alexander Kodorov was on the train, supposedly now dead, but then why is he making phone calls to his mistress?  In addition, when looking at the aerial footage of the train seconds before it crashed, you can see men jumping out of all the other train cars, but not the one the nuclear warheads were in.  Hence, those soldiers were already all dead.  He is correct.

This begins the search for those missing ten warheads that Kodorov stole and a wild ride it is.

10 out of 10 stars.  This has a clever plot and likable characters.  Highly recommended.
