Painting Country Gardens by Claudia Nice is a beautiful book on creating watercolor and ink drawings.
4 out of 10 stars. I have several of Claudia’s books so there was nothing new in this book for me. If you’re a watercolor painter who paints only flowers there may be some tips that are useful to you, specifically for flowers, but these same techniques are described in her other books with non-flower examples.
I love Georgia O’Keefe’s paintings. They are all of beautiful flowers and gardens. But what hangs on my walls at home are animals, buildings, and people. Although she does include a farm cat and an old wagon wheel in this book, by far the majority of examples are flowers.
4 out of 10 stars. If you’re going to start with Claudia’s books, I highly recommend starting with the 221 page Painting with Watercolor, Pen and Ink. It is a large volume and covers most if not all of her techniques.
