The Legacy of the Bones is a 2019 Spanish film.

6 out of 10 stars.  There are English subtitles, but no English dubbing.  The plot is somewhat convoluted, but intriguing.  The acting is superb.  The scenery breathtaking.

Detective Amaia Salazar returns to work after giving birth to a baby boy Ibai.  She is immediately thrown into investigating a series of suicides that leave the message TARTTALO behind.  Apparently Tarttalo is an ancient Spanish fairytale about a cyclops who ate and dismembered Christian women, always taking one of their arms.  She has her team uncover all the murders of women in the area that included dismemberment.  Strangely enough, it all leads back to her crazy mother who murdered her twin sister when she was an infant and was part of a Satanic cult. As part of this cult, the men apparently killed their infants, cut off their wife’s arm, and put the bones of the infants and the arms in a cave on an altar to Tarttalo.  Creepy, right?

6 out of 10 stars.  This is one of those films that you can watch on a rainy night while relaxing.  Just sit and read subtitles for two hours and enjoy the cinematography.
