Devil is a 2010 M Night Shamalayan film about the devil.
6 out of 10 stars. This is an unusual fairytale by M Night Shamalayan set in the elevator of a skyscraper.
This film begins with a suicide which the narrator attributes to the devil’s presence. While the cops are investigating the suicide, five people become trapped in the elevator in the same office building and one by one they are murdered. The lights go off. The lights come back on. And another one is dead. Simple plot but very scary.
While the cops and building security try to get to the stalled elevator, other people in the building begin dying mysteriously. What these people have in common, at least the ones in the elevator, is that they’ve all done something truly evil and the devil has come to collect their souls.
6 out of 10 stars. Well cast. Well plotted. The problem is that no one is likable so you don’t care. Chris Messina was probably the wrong protagonist.
